Abnormal swells and temporary port closures affect operations at the Talara Refinery

Operations at the Talara Refinery are temporarily suspended due to two converging factors. First, a restriction in the supply of crude oil, stemming from the company's current liquidity situation; and second, the temporary closure of the port facilities in Talara Bay, ordered by the Port Authority due to abnormal swell conditions. In this context, Petroperú initiated a coordinated, safe, and sequential shutdown of the refinery's processing units on Tuesday, July 28, at 6:00 p.m.

The measure adopted by the Maritime Authority prevented crude oil unloading operations from taking place since Monday, July 27, coinciding with a crude oil supply plan adjusted to the company's financial availability. Once maritime conditions are restored and the port facilities are authorized to reopen, estimated for July 31, the unloading of imported crude oil will begin. This will allow for the recovery of the necessary inventories to begin the commissioning of the processing units starting August 5.

During this period, scheduled maintenance work will also be carried out on various industrial services at the Talara Refinery, including the seawater system, the closed-loop cooling circuit, and electrical cubicles, with the aim of strengthening the reliability of operations.

Petroperú states that, to date, it has sufficient fuel inventories to meet the normal demand of the customers it supplies through its network of sales plants and terminals, guaranteeing the continuity of supply to the market served by the company.
