New attack on the North Peruvian Oil Pipeline in the Amazon region

A new attack on the pipeline of the North Peruvian Oil Pipeline (ONP) occurred on Friday, March 15, at kilometer 356 of Section II in the Nieva district, Condorcanqui province, Amazonas region.

With this, there are now 11 registered attacks, which have been centralized in Section II of the ONP from January 2023 to date, at the following points: km 355+259, km 358+839, km 372+090, km 376 +536, km 390+184, km 392+488, km 392+710, km 399+861, km 400+811 and km 404+650.

In view of these events, Petroperú requests the support of the National Police of Peru (PNP) to protect the ONP, in order to avoid these contingencies generated by third parties that threaten the integrity of this National Critical Asset, the communities and the environment.

At the moment, Petroperú has managed to control the hydrocarbon leak, as part of the activities it has been carrying out in accordance with its Contingency Plan, while it is expected that in the next few hours the Public Ministry and the PNP will verify the event, develop investigations and culminate with an exemplary penalty to the perpetrators of these acts.

Petroperú informed the Environmental Assessment and Supervision Body – OEFA and the Energy and Mines Investment Supervisory Body – OSINERGMIN of this fact. Likewise, it mentioned that Section II has been on a scheduled shutdown since December 29, 2023 due to low oil inventories.
