New clandestine connection on the North Peruvian Pipeline causes an emergency in Olmos

Petroperú has detected a new clandestine connection at kilometer 696+154 of Section II of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP), located in the Olmos district, in the province and region of Lambayeque. This discovery brings the total number of such connections identified since June to ten, highlighting the ongoing nature of the attacks against this Critical National Asset.

In response to this situation, Petroperú has activated its Emergency Response Plan and mobilized operations, maintenance, and security personnel from the Bayóvar Terminal to carry out containment and emergency response efforts.

These actions by third parties constitute illegal interventions that compromise the integrity of the pipeline and pose a risk to both public safety and the environment.

Petroperú is coordinating with the Peruvian National Police (PNP) to conduct an official police investigation at the site and is taking the necessary steps with the Public Prosecutor's Office. Furthermore, the company has reported the incident to the Supervisory Body for Investment in Energy and Mining (Osinergmin), the Environmental Assessment and Enforcement Agency (OEFA), the General Directorate of Hydrocarbons of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, and other relevant authorities.

Given the persistence of these attacks, Petroperú reiterates the need to strengthen surveillance and protection measures for the ONP, in order to prevent further illicit interventions and safeguard this infrastructure, which is of strategic importance to the country.
