North Peruvian Pipeline is in optimal conditions for the transportation of hydrocarbons

Petroperú has completed all the repair work on the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP) pipeline, in the eleven points where it was affected by intentional cuts. This is how this National Critical Asset is operational and in optimal conditions to continue fulfilling the transportation service of oil production from the jungle to the northern coast of the country.

As recalled, this year alone, eleven contingencies were generated in Sections I and II of the ONP (8 in Section II and 3 in Section I), all generated by intentional outages, whose attention process begins with the containment of the crude oil and the repair of the pipeline and then continue with the recovery, cleaning and remediation of the affected environment.

Within this process, the repair of the pipeline has been fully completed, while the work to restore the impacted areas continues and is carried out independently of the operation of the ONP.

Likewise, the scheduled preventive maintenance work is carried out, in order to guarantee reliability and safety in the hydrocarbon transportation service. These tasks consist of reinforcing the pipeline, strengthening the riverside defenses, as well as rubbing and cleaning the reserve area through which the pipeline moves.

To carry out its operations, Petroperú maintains a sustained dialogue with neighboring communities so that operational activities are carried out in a climate of social peace. In this way, it was possible to unload the barges where the crude oil from a private operator was located at Station 1, with which it is expected to restart transportation operations in the short term.
