Petroperú and EP Petroecuador open up new opportunities for energy cooperation

Petroperú and EP Petroecuador have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen energy cooperation and integration between Peru and Ecuador by identifying and evaluating opportunities of mutual interest across the hydrocarbon value chain.

The document was signed by the general managers of the two companies—Luis Suárez Carlo of Petroperú and Sebastián Maag Pardo of EP Petroecuador—during the Presidential Meeting and the 17th Peru-Ecuador Binational Cabinet, held in Lima.

The signing ceremony for the agreement, which will remain in effect for four years, was attended by the leaders of both nations, as well as the Chairman of the Board of Petroperú, Oliver Stark.

The memorandum outlines opportunities for cooperation in the marketing and supply of crude oil and petroleum products, the utilization of logistics infrastructure—including terminals and storage capacity—maritime transport, and the exchange of technical expertise and best practices.

These initiatives aim to leverage the complementary strengths of both companies: Ecuador’s capabilities in hydrocarbon production and marketing, and Peru’s refining capacity.

Through this agreement, Petroperú and EP Petroecuador reaffirm their commitment to fostering regional energy integration and developing strategic partnerships that create value for both countries.
