Petroperú is working with the government and the private sector to strengthen supply in Ucayali

In light of the reports circulating about the fuel supply situation in Ucayali and the claims that Petroperú is allegedly opposed to the participation of private companies in the region's energy infrastructure, the company considers it necessary to clarify the following:
1. Petroperú is not opposed to the participation of private companies or the evaluation of investments that contribute to strengthening the energy supply of Ucayali. It is important to clarify that, in 2019, the company received a refining infrastructure in Pucallpa that was already out of operation and had pending maintenance and regulatory compliance requirements.
2. Likewise, Petroperú specifies that any proposal related to refining, storage, or distribution infrastructure is evaluated according to technical, economic, legal, environmental, and regulatory criteria, so as to guarantee its sustainability and effective contribution to the energy security of the Amazon.
3. Since the beginning of its administration, the new Board of Directors of Petroperú has prioritized addressing the energy situation in Ucayali and has been promoting immediate actions and sustainable solutions to strengthen the fuel supply in the region. In this regard, Petroperú is working in close coordination with the National Government, the Ministry of Energy and Mines, Osinergmin (the Peruvian energy and mining regulatory agency), as well as representatives from the private sector and other relevant entities, to implement measures that strengthen response capacity in Ucayali and address the needs of the population. This coordination includes, among other actions, the evaluation and use of additional storage infrastructure.
4. Regarding the measures announced by the Government to temporarily mitigate the impact of the international increase in fuel prices, Petroperú will provide, within its area of responsibility, the technical and operational support required by the authorities to contribute to their proper implementation.
5. Petroperú continues to meet the demand of its customers in Ucayali, maintaining inventories at the Pucallpa Sales Plant and product in transit, and is continuously monitoring its supply chain to respond promptly to any contingency that could affect regional supply.
Petroperú reaffirms its commitment to Ucayali and the entire Peruvian Amazon, prioritizing the continuity of supply and the development of solutions that contribute to energy security and the economic activities of the region.
