Petroperú reports a new clandestine connection in the North Peruvian Pipeline

Petroperú detected a new illegal connection at kilometer 835+531 of Section II of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP), located in the district and province of Sechura, Piura department. As a result, the company immediately activated its Emergency Response Plan and initiated the operational and coordination actions planned for this type of illegal activity.

As part of the immediate response, specialized personnel were mobilized from the Bayóvar Terminal, transporting equipment, tools, and materials to address the emergency. Additionally, support was coordinated with contractor companies working in nearby areas to reinforce control and security measures in the area. Furthermore, it was verified that the valves located at kilometers 744 and 792 of Section II were closed.

During the technical inspection, eight (8) illegally installed hoses were identified, directly connected to the ONP pipeline, indicating a clandestine intervention intended to compromise the oil infrastructure. It was also verified that no significant environmental damage has been recorded.

This incident constitutes a new attack against the North Peruvian Pipeline, perpetrated by third parties unrelated to the company. This is the fourth clandestine connection detected in recent weeks in the Sechura Desert, an alarming recurrence that confirms the intensification of illicit activities against this strategic infrastructure for the country.

Petroperú expresses its deep concern about the escalation of these criminal acts, which jeopardize the security of a Critical National Asset, compromise the integrity of operations, and generate potential economic, social, and environmental impacts. This situation is even more serious considering the company's repeated requests to the competent authorities to strengthen the surveillance and protection of the North Peruvian Pipeline.

In response to this latest attack, Petroperú urges the responsible authorities to adopt urgent and effective measures to identify, capture, and punish those responsible, as well as to prevent the continuation of these criminal acts.

Petroperú promptly reported this incident to the relevant agencies, including OSINERGMIN, OEFA, the National Intelligence Directorate (DINI), and the Peruvian National Police, REGPOL Piura, through report number 35649095, reaffirming its commitment to environmental protection, operational safety, and the defense of the national energy infrastructure.
