A delegation of students from the Faculty of Communications of Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC) visited the facilities of the Iquitos Refinery on Thursday 10 to obtain greater scope of the hydrocarbon industry management process.

The engineer Oscar Vera, Sub Manager Selva Refining, announced the relevant work of the Iquitos Refinery to produce the fuels that are distributed in the complex Amazon geography. For his part, Ing., Martín Chancafe, Head of the Processes Unit, informed the students of the processes that are developed to ensure the supply and quality of the products, thus fulfilling an important role for the development of this region.

Students also learned about the storage and dispatch of different products, such as gasoline, biodiesel B5, turbo A1 for aviation and industrial oil 6, which are transported by land and river to meet the demand of Amazonian cities.

The next day, the student delegation made a guided visit to the communities near the refinery where PETROPERU carries out various social management projects with the population. Thus, they learned about the work carried out in Barrio Florido, Independencia and Centro Arenal, such as craft workshops and scholarship education programs in Senati and the pre-university academy.

PETROPERU periodically conducts guided visits to its operations as part of its social management policy, which is geared towards integration with its stakeholders through the dissemination of the work it performs in its facilities, respecting the environment and the community.
