Petroperú provides support to Upland in its contingency response actions during crude oil shipment

Petroperú reports that today at 8:20 a.m., while Upland Oil & Gas was beginning the loading of Mayna crude oil from Trompeteros to Station 1 of the Norperuvian Pipeline (ONP) on the Brazilian-flagged barge Goias 3000, a technical failure occurred in the vessel's flange, causing an oil leak. Most of the oil remained contained on the barge's deck, while a smaller volume spilled into the Marañón River.
Petroperú immediately activated its Emergency Response Plan to support Upland Oil & Gas, which is in charge of loading its production, and implemented the corresponding control and cleanup actions, in accordance with established procedures for this type of contingency.
In addition to the actions outlined in the initial response plan, Petroperú also mobilized personnel to the area to begin collecting the oil from the nearby riverbank. Furthermore, the corresponding notifications were sent to the Yurimaguas Port Authority and the Environmental Assessment and Enforcement Agency (OEFA), as well as other relevant entities.
It is important to note that prior to the start of port operations, spill containment booms were in place downstream, which successfully reduced the impact.
