Petroperu Strengthens Literacy Initiatives in Public Schools Across Lima, Moquegua, Arequipa, and Cusco

As part of its Social Management Policy and in compliance with the commitments established in the community relations plans designed for its areas of influence, Petroperu has implemented classroom libraries and distributed literary materials across public educational institutions in Lima and southern Peru. This initiative aims to enhance reading comprehension and foster reading habits among primary and secondary school students.
In the Lima district of Villa El Salvador, the project included setting up classroom libraries at the Elías Aguirre and Jesús de Nazareth educational institutions. Similarly, in Ilo, Mollendo, and Cusco, library infrastructure was upgraded at the Mercedes Cabello de Carbonera, Daniel Becerra, Daniel Alcides Carrión, and Alejandro Velasco Astete schools, as well as the María Inmaculada shelter and the Islay Municipal Library.
In total, the company delivered 19 reading modules and 283 literary titles. This effort seeks to provide continuous access to books within the school environment, thereby promoting the development of comprehension, oral, and written communication skills, as well as supporting early childhood learning.
These actions are carried out under Petroperu's social management guidelines, which are aimed at building sustainable, trust-based relationships with neighboring communities in its operational areas by promoting initiatives that drive local development and strengthen education.
