The completion of the maritime works marks a milestone in the development of the project, which will allow the servicing of larger ships at the most modern refining complex in the country.
Petroperú successfully completes the offshore construction phase of the Multibuoy Terminal II at the Talara Refinery

Petroperú has completed the offshore construction phase (infrastructure located at sea) of the Multibuoy Terminal II – Talara Refinery project, one of the most important stages of this undertaking. This phase encompasses both marine and onshore components to strengthen the infrastructure for receiving crude oil and dispatching residual fuels. With the completion of the offshore work, the construction of the planned onshore facilities continues as part of the project's overall development.

The completion of this stage was highlighted during a ceremony held at the Talara Refinery, attended by the Chairman of the Board of Petroperú, Edmundo Lizarzaburu Bolaños; members of the Board of Directors; the General Manager, Gustavo Villa Mora; local authorities; and representatives of the PSAMPO-PSAMP Consortium, the company responsible for carrying out the offshore work.

The project includes the construction and installation of the necessary infrastructure for receiving crude oil and dispatching residual fuels through a new multibuoy terminal. To achieve this, the project is being developed in two components: the offshore component, which includes the works carried out at sea, and the onshore component, corresponding to the facilities being built on land. Together, these will form the new transfer system between the ships and the refinery.

Thanks to this new maritime infrastructure, the Multibuoy Terminal II will expand its handling capacity to include vessels of approximately 150,000 deadweight tons (DWT), corresponding to the AFRAMAX and SUEZMAX categories, used for transporting large volumes of oil. This will allow the terminal to receive up to one million barrels of crude oil, guaranteeing a safe and efficient transfer from large-capacity vessels to the Talara Refinery and strengthening the reliability of the crude oil supply.

The Multibuoy Terminal II has obtained all the necessary permits for its construction, including the Water Area Use Permit, Port Authorization, Technical and Water Area Feasibility Study, Archaeological Monitoring Plan, Design Manual, Construction Permit, and a methodologically approved maneuvering study. While the land component is under construction, Petroperú continues to obtain the final permits required for the future commissioning of this infrastructure.
