Free afro-peruvian dance workshops in PETROPERU

Starting next Wednesday, the Art Room of the PETROPERU Cultural Center will be the stage for two Afro-Peruvian music workshops (“festejo”) by the School of Afro-Peruvian Expressions Kumaco, as part of the cultural activities that the oil company is carrying out this 2018.

The first day will be on Wednesday and the second on Friday 12, dates in which attendees will learn more about the techniques of this music, dictated by the teacher José "Lalo" Izquierdo Fune. Both workshops will begin at 5:00 p.m., with completely free admission.

José "Lalo" Izquierdo Fune is a musician and Afro-Peruvian dancer. Co-founder of the emblematic group "Peru Negro", he has dedicated his whole life to research and the dissemination of Afro-Peruvian art, taking his knowledge and experience to the five continents, dancing and directing master classes, working, among others, with Paco de Lucía and Mario Moreno "Cantinflas".

Meanwhile, Kumaco is the school of Afro-Peruvian expressions, which has shows in various formats, being the most recognized work "Raíces Afroperuanas". In addition, they offer workshops aimed at children, youth, adults and visiting brothers.

“AFROPERÚ” PHOTOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION

It should be noted that the "Afroperú" exhibition, which PETROPERU carries out along with the Ministry of Culture, is continuing at the same time. The exhibition includes a set of portraits made by renowned photographer Kike Arnal in diverse afro-descendant communities in our country showing the diversity that exists in Peru today.

This way, the oil company reaffirms once again its support for culture as one of the most important factors for the country to achieve full development, with equal opportunities for all its citizens. This contribution contributes to generating new senses of community and democratization to the access of the existing cultural production.

The exhibition will remain open to the public until October 27, in the Art Room of the PETROPERU Cultural Center, located at Av. Canaval Moreyra 150, San Isidro. Free admission.
