Minister of Energy and Mines oversees operation of the Iquitos Refinery

The Minister of Energy and Mines (MINEM), Luis Bravo De La Cruz, conducted a technical visit to the Iquitos Refinery, a strategic Petroperú facility that plays a fundamental role in the country's energy security and in supplying fuel to the Peruvian Amazon.
During the tour, the Minister was accompanied by Petroperú's Jungle Operations Manager, Steeck Hoffmann Panduro, with whom he inspected the Processing and Product Movement Unit facilities to verify their proper functioning and operational levels.
The Minister emphasized that the Iquitos Refinery, in operation since 1955 and subsequently modernized, has supported the economic and social growth of eastern Peru, contributing to the strengthening of energy sovereignty and guaranteeing the continuous supply of fuel for millions of Peruvians.
With a processing capacity of 12,000 barrels per day, the Iquitos Refinery primarily supplies the regions of Loreto, San Martín, and part of Ucayali. Likewise, when demand has required it, it has supplied fuel to border towns such as Leticia, Colombia, and Tabatinga, Brazil.
This energy complex contributes approximately 5% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the Loreto region and is key to the electricity generation of the city of Iquitos, through the supply of Industrial Fuel Oil No. 6 and B5 Diesel, fuels produced at its own facilities.
Petroperú reaffirms its commitment to operating its strategic assets with high standards of safety, efficiency, and reliability, contributing to the sustainable development of the regions where it operates.
