OIG Peru and Petroperú commemorate one year of successful operations in Lot X

OIG Peru and Petroperú commemorate the first year of operations at Lot X, located in the Talara districts of Los Órganos, El Alto, Lobitos, and Máncora, with results that reflect operational efficiency and a strong environmental and social commitment to the community.
During this period, an intensive program was implemented, including 900 well service interventions with the commissioning of 271 wells producing 800 barrels per day, and the reconditioning of 45 wells, adding an additional 240 barrels per day and 12 million cubic feet of gas per day. This program maximized resource utilization and has allowed for the production of 8,040 barrels of oil per day.
In the environmental area, the Operational Integrity Management System (OIMS) and an ongoing community environmental monitoring program were implemented. Additionally, monthly beach cleanups are held, reaffirming the consortium's commitment to the conservation of the local ecosystem.
From an economic perspective, Lot X has generated more than USD 71 million in royalties for the State and contributed USD 3.2 million to the Social Development Fund. For the next nine years, an investment of USD 850 million is projected, targeting the drilling of 1,146 new wells and 135 refurbishments of existing ones, with the goal of maximizing the energy potential of this strategic area.
The social impact is also reflected in the creation of local employment, both directly and through contracting companies that support operations. In addition, more than 4,300 health services have been provided in coordination with the Ministry of Health, and heavy machinery training programs and art competitions have been promoted at six educational institutions in the area. During the ceremony, Guillermo Ferreyros, General Manager of OIG Peru, emphasized that this first year of operation at Lot X has established the foundation for safety, environmental protection, and dialogue with communities. “This project will be an engine of development for the districts of Talara and the Piura region in the coming years. We have consolidated a solid team and a work culture based on technical excellence, responsibility, and respect for the communities that host us,” he added.
For his part, Oscar Vera, General Manager of Petroperú, emphasized that “this first year of operations demonstrates the value of a strategic alliance based on technical excellence and social responsibility. The achievements are the result of joint work and commitment to the communities. We will continue promoting management that generates shared value and sustainable development in the areas where we operate.” Block X operates under a 30-year hydrocarbon exploitation license agreement between OIG PERÚ S.A.C., Aguaytía Energy del Perú and Termoselva (60%), and Petroperú (40%), authorized by Supreme Decree No. 008-2024-EM.
OIG Perú and Petroperú reaffirm their commitment to responsible management, oriented toward economic growth, environmental sustainability, and the well-being of local communities.
