Petroperú activates emergency protocol after incident in main pipeline in Moquegua

Petroperú informs the residents of Moquegua that today, February 3, 2025, at 3:13 p.m., an incident occurred on Amparo Baluarte Avenue in the district of San Antonio, Mariscal Nieto province. No property damage or environmental impact was reported. The incident was related to a rupture in a 160 mm polyethylene (PE 160 mm) main pipeline.
In accordance with its established procedures, Petroperú immediately activated its emergency response protocol, shutting off the gas supply to ensure the safety of the area and prevent further disruption. The emergency was contained in approximately 30 minutes.
According to the preliminary assessment, the incident appears to be related to excavation work being carried out in the area. Petroperú's specialized technical personnel are currently working to repair the leak and restore service as soon as possible. Petroperú reaffirms its commitment to the safety of its operations and will continue to provide timely updates on the progress of the work until service is fully restored. It also reiterates the importance of coordination with local authorities and contractors involved in any civil works involving excavation.
