Petroperú consolidates its presence in the region with second dispatch of sulfuric acid from the Talara Refinery to Chile

Petroperú successfully carried out the second loading of sulfuric acid from the Talara Refinery, consisting of 16,765 metric tons (MT) of the product, which were shipped on the MT CONCON TRADER tanker on September 6 and 7. The cargo destination is the port of Barquito, in the Atacama region of Chile.

This firm is part of the current contract with the company HEXAGON TRADING AG, through which Petroperú has committed to supply a total of 160,000 MT of high concentration sulfuric acid, from the modern infrastructure of the refinery.

The sulfuric acid shipped is produced by the new WSA (Wet gas Sulfuric Acid) Unit, which is part of the Talara Refinery Modernization Project. This plant, licensed by the renowned Danish company Haldor Topsoe, represents a technological and environmental leap, since its raw material is the acid gases generated by the different process units of the refinery, transforming them into a product of high commercial value with the highest quality standards.

The WSA Unit has a production capacity of 560 tons per day, which has allowed Petroperú to successfully enter the export market of this industrial input, vital for sectors such as mining and the chemical industry.

With this second shipment, the Talara Refinery consolidates its position as a relevant player in the regional market for industrial products and reinforces its contribution to the economic development of the country.
