Petroperú Coordinates with Upland to Ensure Normal Fuel Supply in Iquitos

In response to the news article published by the digital outlet La Selva titled "Petroperú’s Failure to Pay Upland Threatens Electricity Supply," we state the following:

  1. To date, Petroperú has been coordinating closely with Upland regarding outstanding payments; as part of this agreement, Upland supplied 32,000 barrels of Mayna crude oil during March.
  2. Furthermore, there is currently an interruption of crude oil loading and unloading operations at the pontoon area of Station 1 of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP), resulting from a protest action taken by the Saramurillo native community. This situation originated from an incident on March 7 during the loading of Upland crude oil onto a Brazilian barge.
  3. Should this blockade persist, it could cause a serious impact on the crude oil supply to the Iquitos Refinery, directly affecting fuel availability for urban and rural transport, as well as electricity generation in the city. However, Petroperú is managing alternative supply options for the Iquitos Refinery to guarantee a regular supply to the city.
  4. In this regard, we call upon the Saramurillo native community, the competent authorities, and Upland to reach agreements that allow for the immediate restart of operations at Station 1 and, consequently, the supply of crude oil to the Iquitos Refinery.
  5. Petroperú maintains its primary role of ensuring the supply of quality fuel throughout the country, operating in a sustainable, safe, and efficient manner.
