Petroperú Ensures Operational Continuity of Block Z-69

Petroperú signed an extension of the License Contract for the Exploitation of Hydrocarbons for Block Z-69 with Perupetro. Located off the coast of the Talara, Paita, and Sechura provinces in the Piura region, the extension spans a 12-month period, in compliance with Supreme Decree No. 005-2026-EM enacted by the Executive Branch.
The continuity of operations in this block—considered strategic for the country's energy supply—will sustain and increase national hydrocarbon production, securing the operational continuity of one of Peru's primary offshore oil and gas fields. Furthermore, it will help boost the local economy and promote direct and indirect employment, while strengthening regional revenue derived from canon, sobrecanon (local tax distributions), and royalties.
Additionally, the operational continuity of Block Z-69 will contribute to the company's sustainability by generating profit margins associated with hydrocarbon production and commercialization. This aligns with ongoing actions aimed at strengthening Petroperú’s financial, operational, and corporate governance structures.
The crude oil and natural gas extracted from the block are transported directly to the Talara Refinery for processing and conversion into high-quality fuels for the domestic market. This process strengthens the hydrocarbon value chain, enhances national energy security, and fosters sustainable development within the operation's areas of influence.
Petroperú thus reaffirms its commitment to the responsible, transparent, and sustainable management of its operations, aligned with corporate governance standards, while prioritizing operational continuity, environmental care, community relations, and value generation for the country.
