PETROPERU is condecorated with the Gran Cruz de la Solidaridad

The Bishopric of Callao presented PETROPERU its highest distinction, the “Gran Cruz de la Solidaridad” (Great Cross of Solidarity), in recognition of its outstanding work and commitment in the various infrastructure, social and pastoral projects that are benefiting many families in the constitutional province.

The medal was presented to the President of the Board of the state oil company, Eng. James Atkins Lerggios, by the Bishop of Callao, José Luis Del Palacio Pérez-Mendel, who highlighted the role of the first company in the country which, he said, for more than four years has provided all kinds of aid aimed at improving the living conditions of the inhabitants of the first port. "It is a commendable work that shows the high degree of commitment of the Company with the less fortunate," he said.

Atkins Lerggios appreciated the recognition and stated that for PETROPERU it is not an obligation but a duty to meet those who need it most. "For many years we have been developing social responsibility works and cultural actions in schools and social institutions close to our operations. In this line, we collaborate with the Bishopric, through the delivery of donations aimed at improving the quality of life of people with low economic resources, which is also framed in an institutional cooperation agreement," he said.

For the high official, continuing to promote the development of the country is part of the social responsibility policy and, in that sense, PETROPERU seeks to generate alliances that promote development, especially of children and youths, who are responsible today for building a better tomorrow.

It should be noted that the support of the state company has been provided since 2014, and since then furniture and desktop computers have been delivered to parochial schools in the port. Likewise, the access roads to the community premises in Pachacutec have been optimized, along with other improvements through the donation of asphalt cement, liquid asphalt and B5 diesel.

The ceremony took place in the premises of the parish of the Sagrado Corazon de Jesus, in the district of La Punta, Callao.
