Petroperú launches a series of conferences to strengthen energy knowledge
- Authorities, university representatives, specialists, and institutional clients participated in the inaugural event.

Petroperú launched the "Learning with Energy" conference series, an institutional initiative that seeks to strengthen technical and academic dialogue in response to the major challenges facing the energy sector. The inaugural conference was held in the auditorium of the Petroperú Cultural Center in Lima and brought together authorities, academic representatives, hydrocarbon specialists, and institutional clients in a space for meeting and knowledge exchange.
During the ceremony, Petroperú Chairman of the Board, Alejandro Narváez Liceras, emphasized that this series represents an important step toward a more modern and collaborative energy sector. "At Petroperú, we promote knowledge as a driver of transformation. This initiative was born with the purpose of opening the doors to dialogue, mutual learning, and collaboration among all of us who are part of the national energy sector," he stated, underscoring the company's commitment to technical training, innovation, and strengthening ties with academia, industry, and the public. The opening day focused on the New Talara Refinery and its modern maximum conversion unit: Fluidized Catalytic Cracking (FCC), the largest and most advanced in the country. The conference, led by Corporate Operations Manager Arturo Rodríguez, delved into the operation of this world-class technology, which converts heavy hydrocarbons into high-value products such as gasoline, diesel, and LPG, significantly improving the efficiency of the refining process.
The event included a panel discussion with Gaby Julca Cumbicus, Director of the Regional Directorate of Energy and Mines of the Regional Government of Piura, and Gerardo León Castillo, former Operations Manager of Petroperú, who reflected on energy security, environmental impact, and the outlook for the hydrocarbon sector in the country.
The conference series will take place every two weeks and will address key topics such as energy transition, sustainability, technological innovation, supply chain and trade, exploration and production, and the use of clean energy, consolidating itself as a platform for ongoing training and technical exchange between academia, industry, and society. With this initiative, Petroperú reaffirms its commitment to developing knowledge, achieving operational excellence, and promoting an energy culture geared toward the country's progress.
