Petroperú launches green areas restoration and maintenance project in El Alto

As part of its 2025 Community Relations Plan, Petroperú launched the "Recovery and Maintenance of Public Spaces such as Parks, Gardens, and Green Areas in El Alto" project, with the goal of improving the quality of life of residents of the El Alto district, in the province of Talara (Piura).
The project includes the restoration of 15 public spaces—including parks, avenues, and small squares—through cleanup, tree planting, installation of benches and playgrounds, painting of curbs, and proper solid waste management. The project will last a total of 180 days, of which 120 will be actual workdays. It is expected to be completed by October 11, 2025.
A key component of this initiative is the creation of 300 temporary jobs, prioritizing the hiring of El Alto residents and promoting the participation of women. The workers will receive technical training in green space maintenance, painting, masonry, and electricity, strengthening their skills for future job opportunities. They will also receive all legal benefits and the corresponding safety equipment.
From an environmental perspective, the project incorporates the planting of plant species adapted to the area's arid climate, ensuring its long-term sustainability. This intervention is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
The launch event was attended by the district mayor of El Alto, Reedy Bancayán Palomino, Petroperú officials, and representatives of local organizations such as the Cabo Blanco Neighborhood Council and Fishermen's Association. During the event, the importance of the project for community development was highlighted, and the work start document was signed. Among the main areas benefited are the El Alto Main Square, the Barrio Plomo Avenue, the Children's Park, and various areas in the Cabo Blanco sector. Upon completion of the project, these spaces will be handed over to the El Alto District Municipality for maintenance and continued use by the population.
With this initiative, Petroperú reaffirms its commitment to the sustainable development of Talara, promoting projects that generate employment, improve the urban environment, and foster community participation.
