Petroperú recognized the winners of the 2024 Copé Award

The most outstanding authors of the XXIII Storytelling Biennial and the IX Essay Biennial were recognized, reaffirming the role of the company as a promoter of literature in the country. The Copé Award has been carried out since 1979, considered one of the most prestigious literary competitions in Peru and Latin America.
Petroperú recognized the winners of the 2024 Copé Award

In an emotional ceremony held in the auditorium of the Centro Cultural Petroperú, the awards of the 2024 Copé Award were presented, which distinguished the winners and finalists of the XXIII Storytelling Biennial and the IX Essay Biennial.

In the short story category, the first place was won by Luis Fernando Díaz Cáceres with the play "Dies irae"; the second place went to Gerson Rivera Cisneros with "El zorro borracho"; and the third place to Hugo Velazco Flores with "La gula". In the essay category, the Gold Copé was awarded to Martín Horna Romero for his work "La rosa traversa".

Likewise, Samuel Enrique Ashcallay Samaniego was distinguished with honorable mentions for "Ofelia" and Cristian Walter Lindo Pablo for "Intermezzo". Eleven finalists were also recognized in the story category, among which works such as "Me he acostumbrado a ti como la luz del mundo a la ventana", "Diles que no me miren", "Maté a mi hermano" and "El usurpador", among others, stand out.

The winning works will be published under the Ediciones Copé label and will be integrated into Petroperú's cultural distribution plan in 2026, which promotes the implementation of libraries in vulnerable communities in the country.

The juries of both biennials were made up of leading academics and literary critics from institutions such as the Peruvian Academy of Language, the San Marcos National University, the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and the House of Peruvian Literature, together with representatives of Petroperú.

During the activity, Petroperú presented the call for a new edition of the prize, the XXII Poetry Biennial and the X Novel Biennial "Copé 2025 Award", a demonstration of the continuity of the contest in the country.

The Copé Award, organized by Petroperú since 1979, is considered one of the most prestigious literary competitions in Peru and Latin America. In this way, the company reaffirms its role as a promoter of Peruvian culture and literature, promoting the talent of writers from all over the country and strengthening national identity through letters.
