Petroperú reports new attack on the North Peruvian Pipeline

Petroperú reports that on Wednesday, April 23, personnel conducting contingency monitoring on Section II of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP) in the Amazonas region identified a hydrocarbon leak at kilometer 362 of said section.
Faced with this situation, the first response actions contemplated in the contingency plan were immediately activated to contain the crude oil by deploying barriers and identifying the exact location of the leak.
As a result of these actions, it was determined that the leak was caused by a perforation carried out by unidentified third parties. The perforation was sealed yesterday at midnight, avoiding the risk of environmental damage.
It is important to note that aerial patrols are conducted regularly in the area, with the most recent patrol taking place between April 18 and 21. No signs of any anomalous situation were reported during this monitoring. It should be noted that, so far this year, four attacks have been recorded on Section II of the ONP, including the current incident. Therefore, Petroperú requests that authorities and law enforcement take urgent measures to identify and punish those responsible for these criminal acts, which endanger the population, the environment, and the infrastructure of a Critical National Asset.
