Petroperú Reports on Fuel Price Trends in Domestic and International Markets

Petroperú informs the public that recent increases in domestic fuel prices are primarily a response to the sustained rise in international oil and fuel prices recorded during the current month. In this regard, the following is clarified:

  1. International Market Trends: In recent weeks, international markets have seen significant increases. The price of WTI crude oil rose by approximately 39%, driven by factors such as the conflict in the Middle East, global supply constraints, and expectations of higher energy demand.
  2. Regional Benchmarks: Similarly, gasoline and diesel prices on the U.S. Gulf Coast—the reference point for the Peruvian market—recorded increases of around 40%, directly impacting price trends worldwide.
  3. Domestic Pricing Mechanism: In Peru, fuel prices are determined by supply and demand, in accordance with the Organic Law of Hydrocarbons (Law No. 26221), taking into account international reference prices, exchange rates, and logistical costs.
  4. Market Competition: The national fuel market is competitive and includes various players throughout the supply chain (importers and producers).
  5. Station Management: Furthermore, service stations (grifos) operating under the Petroperú brand are privately owned and managed, meaning they set their prices independently. Petroperú only directly manages the Petrocentro Río Amazonas service station in Iquitos, due to the specific conditions of that locality.
  6. Petroperú reaffirms its commitment to managing its price structures with technical rigor, always striving to guarantee a competitive and transparent supply aligned with market conditions.
