Petroperú strengthens its operational response to potential port restrictions

Petroperú participated in the Seafarers' Day ceremony, organized by the College of Officers of the Peruvian Merchant Marine (COMMPE), with the aim of strengthening institutional relationships with key stakeholders in the maritime and port sectors.

During the event, Petroperú's Distribution Manager, Ernesto Gamarra, presented a paper titled "Impact on Supply Due to Port Closures," in which he discussed the effects of operational restrictions on port infrastructure on the national fuel supply chain.

In his presentation, he explained that the recurring closure of ports, primarily due to adverse ocean conditions, can impact the scheduling of logistics operations, generate additional costs, and affect compliance with inventory requirements mandated by current regulations, thus posing a challenge to the continuity of supply.

He also highlighted that, so far this year, operational restrictions at ports have had a significant impact on loading and unloading activities, especially in Talara, the main fuel supply point for various regions of the country. In response to this situation, Petroperú is continuously implementing monitoring and operational planning measures, including tracking maritime conditions using specialized tools and rescheduling vessel routes, with the aim of mitigating risks and ensuring the timely supply of fuel nationwide.

Finally, the company reaffirmed its commitment to continue strengthening coordination with institutions in the maritime sector, the Peruvian Navy, and other strategic stakeholders, in order to contribute to the country's energy security, the development of technical capabilities, and the continuous improvement of its operations.
