Talara Refinery supplies power during national electrical emergency

Petroperú reports that following the outage on Friday, May 16, which affected a key transmission line of the National Interconnected Electric System (SEIN) and caused widespread power outages in the regions of Piura, Lambayeque, and Tumbes—including the New Talara Refinery (NRT)—the company has been actively contributing to restoring service through the generation and transmission of electricity from the NRT.

At 6:30 a.m. today, Saturday, May 17, following the restoration of national power supply, the NRT synchronized with the System's Economic Operation Committee (COES) and began generating 20 megawatts (MW) of power, destined for both domestic consumption and the national grid, contributing to strengthening the electricity supply in the north of the country.

Petroperú continues the gradual reactivation of its essential processing units at its main refining complex, which will increase its power generation and export capacity, with an additional target of 20 MW for the SEIN (National Energy Institute), thus strengthening the stability of the national electricity system.

This result demonstrates Petroperú's operational and responsiveness and reaffirms its commitment to energy security and the continuity of electricity service for the benefit of the country's northern regions.
