Technical inspection rules out the presence of hydrocarbons in the sea off Talara

Petroperú reports that authorized company personnel traveled to Berth No. 4 to conduct a technical inspection following reports of suspected contamination in the area, in the presence of representatives from the Port Authority and the Environmental Assessment and Enforcement Agency (OEFA).

During the field inspection, a superficial iridescent film associated with the presence of organic matter was observed. As part of the established technical procedure, specialized absorbent pads for hydrocarbons were used, which did not absorb the observed material, indicating that it is not petroleum derivatives.

Additionally, seawater samples were taken from the designated area, and no characteristic hydrocarbon odor was detected during the sampling process.

Therefore, this event is not related to Petroperú's ongoing operational activities, which are being carried out normally and in accordance with current technical and environmental standards. The company reaffirms its commitment to transparency, environmental protection, and the timely handling of any reports that may affect ecosystems and communities.
