Winners of the 2018 Copé Award

- Stuart Flores Herrera, won the ORO Copé Award in the XX Story Biennial.
- Ciro Benjamín Alegría Varona earned the ORO Copé Award in the VI Essay Biennial.
- The award ceremony will take place on December 5 in the Auditorium of PETROPERU.
Winners of the  2018 Copé Award

PETROPERU announced today the winners of the XX Story Biennial and VI Essay Biennial of the 2018 Copé Award. In the story category, the writer Stuart Flores Herrera was winner of the Golden Cope with the work "La Piel Fría". Gonzalo Enrique Castro Huayna with his work "El Palomar" and Luiz Carlos Reátegui Del Águila, with "La Casa Abuela", were distinguished with the Silver and Bronze Copé Awards respectively.

Additionally, the works "Un Poema, digresiones de E A B" by Edgard Antonio Gómez Aguayo, "Ohio 1912" by Ernesto David Salvatierra Mendoza and "La muerte del Sinsote" by José Luis Villanueva Victorio were recognized as Honorable Mentions.

The qualifying jury in this category was composed of Carmen Ollé Nava, representing the Ministry of Culture; Harry Belevan McBride, for the Peruvian Academy of the Language; Mauro Macedo Macedo, by the National University of San Marcos (UNMSM); Alonso Cueto, from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Peru (PUCP) and Pedro Cateriano Delgado, from our Company.

For his part, "Adagios, crítica del presente desde una ciencia melancólica", by Ciro Benjamín Alegría Varona, won the Copé Oro Award at the VI Essay Biennial, while Salvador Raggio with his work "Sobre lo mutante. El cuerpo variable contemporáneo y la relativización de la figura del monstruo"and Quimit (Pseudonym) for his work "La Lengua de las Huacas: Una introducción al manuscrito de Huarochirí” were chosen as Honorable Mentions.

In this category, the qualifying jury was composed of Osmar Gonzales Alvarado, representing the Ministry of Culture; Marco Martos Carrera, for the Peruvian Academy of the Language; Carlos Alberto Telésforo Ric García Bedoya Maguiña, for the UNMSM and Miguel Guisti, for the PUCP, as well as for Ricardo González Vigil, representing PETROPERU.

The 20th Story Biennial and the VI Essay Biennial "2018 Copé Award" opened their call in January 2018, culminating the date of reception of works on August 10. According to the rules of the contest, the winning and finalist stories will be published, while in rehearsal the winning work of Gold will be published. The winners will receive, in addition to the cash prize, a trophy and a diploma. In case of honorable mentions and finalists of both genders will receive a diploma.

The 39th edition of the Copé Award, one of the most important literary contests in the country, will be held on Wednesday, December 5 at 7:00 p.m., at the PETROPERU Cultural Center Auditorium, Av. Enrique Canaval Moreyra 150, San Isidro, date in which the call for the 2019  Copé Award will also be launched for the categories of novel and poetry.
