In light of the events that occurred on Monday, July 7, in the area of Well 383 - Lobitos, Lot VI, located in the Lobitos District, Talara Province, the following is communicated to the public:

  • Immediately after the appearance of production fluids (water, crude oil, and sludge) in the area of Well 383 - Lobitos (ATA Well - Temporarily Abandoned, inoperative by Petroperú) of Lot VI, located in the Lobitos District, Talara Province, the first response plan stipulated in the Petroperú protocol was activated.
  • Today, Wednesday, July 9, the affected area is 100% clean, following work carried out by specialized company personnel, which was executed in coordination with sector authorities.
  • The Peruvian National Police (PNP) authorities have been notified to conduct investigations (verification) to determine the true cause, given that the well valve was tampered with and the perimeter fence was forced open, and to ensure order and facilitate activities in the area. Likewise, coordination has been carried out with national and regional authorities, such as the Ministry of Energy and Mines, the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Health, the PNP, the Regional Government of Piura, the Provincial Municipality of Talara, the Municipality of Lobitos, the OEFA (National Agency for the Protection of Natural Resources), OSINERGMIN (National Institute of Agricultural Research), and FEMA Sullana, regarding the actions taken and facilities for monitoring and receiving information.
  • Petroperú reiterates its commitment to environmental protection and good relations with the populations affected by the company's operations.
